Traversing the high seas, twin daughters in tow
Parents to school girls on world voyage

For the next two years as their peers navigate the shifting alliances, hormonal swells and further treacheries of seventh grade, Molly and Jessie Rard, 12-year- old twins from Arlington, will be happily oblivious — if a bit damp.

Instead of multiple teachers, they will have one stern, extremely maternal instructor. Classes will take place in a cubby smaller than most schools’ restrooms — or, depending on your perspective, as large as the world.

At the end of this month, after years of dreaming, the four-member family will step aboard their 49-foot cutter, Ruby Slippers, to circumnavigate the Earth for two years.

Jim. Jeanna, Molly and Jessie leaving the last week of September, 2006 on a two year family cruise aboard RUBY SLIPPERS, their Jeanneau 49. They will be visiting Mexico, South America, the Galapagos Islands, South Pacific Islands, New Zealand, and beyond…
